Alicia Quihuis, PhD, is the Manager of Laboratory Operations at the Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies, where she works in tandem with CAMI leadership and principal scientists to support each research team in achieving their earliest stage proof-of-concept studies. Her comprehensive oversight spans all laboratory operations and logistics essential to advancing CAMI's research initiatives.
Quihuis received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry with a medicinal concentration from Arizona State University. She earned her doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Southern California, where her graduate research focused on investigating sex differences in learning and memory within a model of Alzheimer's disease. Her scientific journey has been shaped by diverse experiences in neuroscience research, including research specialist roles in neuroendocrinology laboratories studying neuroplasticity development and steroid hormone regulation, as well as a position as a lab manager in behavioral neuroscience, where she investigated the impact of hormone therapies on cognition across the lifespan. These varied research backgrounds have equipped her with deep expertise in laboratory management, operational strategy and the ability to support multidisciplinary research teams. Originally an Arizona native, Quihuis returned to the state from her time in southern California to join CAMI, bringing her extensive experience and passion for supporting innovative therapeutic development.
